Entrance Areas, Walkways, Stairs & Patio Areas

See the difference a front walkway or back patio can make in the overall beauty and functionality of your home environment. Extend your living space to the great outdoors this year!

Your front walk is usually the first thing people see when coming to your home.

With a well designed and installed walkway you can…

  • Welcome friends and family into your home
  • Provide a clean entrance, cut down on dirt, mud, and debris brought into your house
  • Frame and separate foundation plantings from the lawn, thus cutting down on maintenance

Interlocking pavers are versatile sections of compacted concrete that are used to pave paths, patios, driveways, and even steps. They are available in numerous styles, colors, and textures. Because of their uniformity, pavers fit together easily and maintenance after the install is minimal.

One of today’s hottest trends is outdoor entertaining…For us New Englanders that means taking advantage of the weather as soon as it gets a little warm out. Everywhere you look there are more and more patio furniture and grilling elements for your backyard. Instead of high end pools and hot tubs that don’t get used as often when company comes over, people are creating an area for benches, chairs, and tables. Throw in things like an inviting fire from a portable chimney or fire pit to gather around safely or a propane heat lamp and now the party begins. Enjoy a delicious meal outdoors and then have a comfortable place to converse or to enjoy romantically with that special someone on a chilly evening once the kids are in bed. We’ll create an outdoor patio area for you that’s designed just for your lifestyle!

Retaining Walls & Stairs

Retaining walls are the one aspect of landscaping that truly serves a purpose. Most walls are constructed to retain some form of a slope or structure and are usually installed to provide a larger “usable land” area. In the past natural fieldstone, railroad ties, and solid concrete walls were the only choices available to landscape contractors. More recently, concrete modular retaining wall systems have revolutionized the industry. Picture Perfect Landscape installs these types of walls. We also install wooden tie walls, which are very functional, easier to install, and more affordable but will probably have to be replaced in 8 to10 years or so.

manchester_wall_05__003Pre-formed concrete wall systems have become very popular. Many styles and colors are available to compliment your home and existing walkways or patios. The newest wall stone blocks simulate the look of natural stone and these systems have many benefits including strength and durability and are less expensive than natural stonewalls. With all of the color and shape options available the creative possibilities are endless.

Steps

When a slope becomes too great for normal pedestrian traffic, steps are the best solution. Picture Perfect Landscape installs all kinds of steps made out of either natural stone such as granite or man-made material such as pre-formed concrete stairs, or even pavers. Our designers choose paver styles to harmonize with the surrounding landscape area. Two colors of pavers can be combined to provide interest in larger areas like patios and pool decks. Pavers also come in blended colors and textures to add interest to smaller projects such as walkways. Ask your consultant for recommendations and prices.

‘Playscape’

A playscape area can be created with a retaining wall. The best part is, a patio or garden area can be installed once the children are grown and the “playscape” is no longer needed as a play area.
